Elegant Romance at Pentney Abbey

Dreaming of a barn wedding venue, Georgie and Rob fell in love with Pentney Abbey. Bringing the outside in with a stylish green and white colour scheme, glorious foliage adorned the venue alongside chic signage and fabulous food and entertainment.

The Venue

Searching for the perfect barn for their wedding day, Georgie and Rob visited a number of potential venues but were completely bowled over when they came across Pentney Abbey.

“It had the showstopper Gatehouse as well as the rustic barn. The overnight accommodation and gorgeous preparation room really sold it to us. It’s a hidden gem in the Norfolk countryside” – Georgie

The Decor

Embracing the natural beauty of Pentney Abbey and its surroundings, the happy couple chose to decorate the venue with greenery and foliage alongside beautiful white flowers.

Rustic-style signage welcomed guests to the venue and stunning floral arrangements with ferns, eucalyptus, wax flowers, peonies and roses really brought the outside in.

“We wanted to have a relaxed vibe, so we had lots of candles and tea lights. We also used some bohemian style rugs to make it feel more informal and intimate.” – Georgie

A semi-naked three-tiered wedding cake with delicious flavours, adorned with flowers, was the perfect choice for this elegant country wedding.

The Look

Georgie fell in love with the 20th dress she tried on, the exquisite ‘Sibella’ gown by Eliza Jane Howell.

“Covered with beads and sequins, it wasn’t the dress I had imagined myself choosing but I absolutely fell in love with it. The sleeves didn’t suit me, so they were taken off and my bespoke dress was born.” – Georgie

Meanwhile, Rob looked the part in a bespoke three-piece suit in grey with a paisley lining from Moss Bros while his groomsmen wore a slightly paler shade of grey.

Finally, Georgie’s bridesmaids were stunning in dove grey dresses from Oasis, in the styles of their choice. And, Georgie’s ‘bridesman’ wore a navy suit.

The Day

After their romantic ceremony in the Gatehouse, the happy couple and their guests dined in style in the main barn.

Following their wedding breakfast and speeches, Georgie’s dad’s band, ‘The Fire Balloons’ entertained the newlyweds and their guests and filled the dance floor.

“We danced our first dance, a choreographed waltz, to ‘Moon River’ which was my grandpa’s favourite song. It meant a lot, hoping that he was looking down on us and smiling.” – Georgie

Advice from the Bride

“Enjoy it and try not to worry about the little things. Imperfections make things interesting!”
